For Led By Donkeys
Led By Donkeys: #GetReadyForBrexit
Client / project: Led By Donkeys / Get ready to mock Boris Johnson - October 2019
Creative team: Phil Dudman and Gemma Dowler
What were we thinking?
We're big fans of the four dads that created Led By Donkeys. Their decision to take action against the bewildering BS of Brexit through illegally pasting up a single satirical poster in Stoke Newington one night, led to a crowdfunded creative campaign that has unleashed politicians own words against them via posters, banners, and projections across the country, and sought to hold them accountable. Their most recent idea, however, showed the value of putting your creative platform in the hands of the people, by creating a website where people could create a mock poster of Boris Johnson's government's £100,000,000 #GetReadyForBrexit campaign.
We couldn't resist.
Check out their brief below and our ideas up there.
Their brief: Get ready to mock Boris Johnson
He’s lied to the country and he’s lied to the Queen. But Boris Johnson is also spaffing £100,000,000 of our money up the wall on a propaganda blitz to make his Brexit feel inevitable.
You can hardly turn on the telly or the radio or even walk down a street without being assaulted by his ridiculous “Get Ready for Brexit” campaign.
Think how many doctors, nurses and teachers he could have hired instead.
This wasteful campaign is a galactic pisstake and it's high time we mocked him for it.
Competition time
We've built a tool that lets you design your own “Get Ready” poster. Just edit the text, add an image if you like, download your design and share it on on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #GetReadyForBrexit (tag us too and we’ll track your submissions).
Comedy masterminds Armando Iannucci and David Schneider have kindly agreed to choose the best five entries which will go up on billboards in the real world.
Writing With Humour
I've always enjoyed tickling the readers. Whether creating Hasbro’s adult party games, writing comic columns, features and captions for Mixmag, packing product descriptions with personality for Moonpig, or scrutinising our cultural quirks on social media.
Here's some examples...
